1993 ford f350 7.5 No signs of fuel leakage seems like its coming out the air vents while driving. I pulled the 2 fuel vapor canisters and plugged the lines it still has smell not as bad but mainly when it's at idle theres also a smell outside the truck. Also Theres a hoot sound and a hissing sound coming from the back of the engine when u shut it off lasts about 10 seconds.I haven't been able to find the source of this. There is no miss rough idle or drive issues just smell of gas or combo gas exhaust smell.lm disabled so its difficult to get up there in the engine compartment but im determined to fix this my self. Been doing my own work for 45 years. Right now Im out of ideas.Any help is surely welcome.
Thanks in advance
Cattlerest.
I had a similar issue on my 1990 F-150, turned out the plastic fuel line had developed a hole and was spraying fuel. The leak was near where the fuel line bends up to the engine, there was a plastic bracket where it makes the bend about where your feet are on the drivers side. The line had cracked there.
You could try cycling the key to prime the fuel system without starting the engine, and see if you hear any leaks of fuel or see any leaks.
