69 f250 transfer case linkage
Anybody out there got any input on fabricating a new transfer case linkage for my 69 f250 np435 tranny and Dana 24 transfer case divorced? The one that is in there is in terrible shape and I want to get a new/used one or make one. If I make it I want to use rod ends and tubing to make it but I really new the correct length so it operates as it should. Thanks for any help!

I've replace my whole linkage on my 71 f250 using a tube with rod end. I don't have any specs on the length any more.
I also had replaced the upper shaft that the shift stick lever as it as pretty sloppy an loose even after replacing those nylon shaft bushing.
I had a friend cut an turn a steel replacement upper shift lever pivot shaft. I then had it rewelded back into the 4wd shift stick lever.
I'm assuming your 69 4wd shift linkage is the same as yours on my 71..
You might only need the nylon shift lever cross shaft bushing an rod-ends on the long shaft linage to fix your up enough to get by with.
Hope this helps:

I found steel bushings for my shifter at the local farm store (Runnings). Even new, those sifters rattled and I always hook a bungee around the shift rod and to the frame to keep them quiet.
Also on a somewhat unrelated topic, if I had another that truck I drove much, equipped with the Dana 24, I'd be looking for a 205 from a 73-early 77. I found parts for the 24, other than bearing and seal kit, to be basically unobtanium. I found a good 205 for $50 and switched it out. An adapter for the speedo cable is needed but speedway sells them.

Yes, I have thought about this. The 24 is closing in on 50 years of service in the truck now. To rebuild it for the most part replacing bearings if it has been used in a normal life. I replaced all the bearings in it and found no play or problems so it will most likely run another 48 years, and seeing how I am 64, it's no big deal. If I happen on a hi pinion unit cheap I might then change to a NP205 and a five speed. I just use the truck for deer hunting and hauling. If we ever have a winter again in Kansas I will use it and leave the Tacoma in the garage. I think now I just need the bushings. I like the 205! Put on in a 71 F100 in 1978. Heck of a lot better having Hi and low over the old single speed 21.

Well, I think it also has a lot to do with how well all the drive lines and everything are balanced and how smooth the engine runs. I've owned quite a few highboys and the quietest one (and my favorite) was a stock 69. And one of the noisiest was a brand new 1974 with a 205.
Hiems in place of the clevis ends might tighten it up some too.
