transfer case shift linkage

My transfer case shift linkage fell off the shift lever today, and I can't find the bolts or clip or whatever is used to hold it on. Does anybody have a picture of what the shift linkage or no where I could find what I need for sale. Couldn't find it on lmc and couldn't find any description in my Haynes manual. I appreciate any help. Its an 86 F150 4x4 by the way. Thanks

Here's a picture. I will warn you some of this stuff uses plastic clips and snaps together, and if you lose or break the clip you are sunk unless someone sells a new one.

AutoZone.com Repair Guide Image. 12: NP208 installation, 1986 slip spline type

If the above link doesn't work, go to Autozone's site, register, plug in your truck, go to "repair guides", "driveline", "transfer case" and then "transfer case" Scroll down, the picture I used was the one at the bottom of the page.

I had this happen last winter. It's just a plastic clip that snaps in. Sort of like what's used to hold the rods in their holes inside the door. I found a suitable replacement in the help section at one of the parts stores. I don't htink it was an exact match but could easily be modified to make work.

So the link worked but the part I need is not listed it just points to it and says "coat with multipurpose long life lubricant". Anybody know what piece that is. Its a bushing between the shift lever and the control rod. But I can't find it.

Where are you looking? Have you tried the Help! section at the parts stores? I wouldn't go to the counter and expect any help, unless you print that picture in the link, and take it to the Ford dealer.

Actually, there at least two types of t-case linkage: The ones with plastic bushings and those with metal-to-metal links. I have one of each in my NP208 t-cases. Here's a picture of the linkage arms:

EDIT: I'm not sure the one on the right is metal-to-metal, although that's the way mine came to me. Maybe it should have a bushing of some kind, but it doesn't use the same plastic bushings the other does as they won't fit.

I wound up manufacturing a bushing out of one at the help desk of an auto parts store. Had to grind it way down to make it fit right. I wish I could find the right part somewhere. Oh well this will probably last for a while.
