My 6.0 Powerstroke just blew its EGR and headgaskets while towing into Asheville, NC. 25k GCWR. 187k miles. Bone stock, so I guess the 6.0 won't hold together working, even stock...
Faced with a $5-7k repair bill on what essentially is a $11k truck, and with only a week here in Asheville - it was trade in time.
Taking delivery of my new F-350 XLT today! Only thing I'm not in love with is the 3.31 gears, but I'm hoping the 925ftlb of torque will take care of that .
We are going to try and put some serious miles on it the next two days to make sure its all functional and get some break in, and then its back to work towing the 5th wheel
That's correct. However wheel size has absolutely everything to do with the tire size Ford puts on the truck.
But thanks for clearing that up for us.
I take it all back, there's way to many tires that come stock.
Edit: I did the math, there's a 2.8% difference in the (most popular) stock 275/70R18 and the 275/65R20.... I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you'd never know the difference.
Well we towed out the 5th today with 200 miles on the clock (eek, little low) and pulled 200+ miles to Atlanta.
Thing tows like a dream. The power is nice, the braking with the engine brake is downright incredible, and the biggest thing is the quiet. Little too much road noise in my opinion, but the wind and engine are barely there. That makes a huge difference for driver fatigue.
A completely different experience then the 6.0. We're kicking ourselves for not doing this sooner.
Them 6.0s aren't meant to be run stock!! Your new duty should please you well.
Beg to differ. Ran mine for 10 years with 3:73’s thru the Eastern Sierras pulling a 31’ 5er. Totally stock. Only problems were turbos. 6.0 can be solid if data and maintenance is followed.
