**BUMPSIDE CREW-INPUT WANTED**

So, since I'm helping to moderate in here now, what would you guys think about putting a sticky thread at the top, with ideas/ tricks /shop tips / tool mods, etc. I actually have something similar in the Nebraska thread.

Anyway, post up what you think? Worth doing? Waste of time? Let me know!

I think it would be a good idea. Even us "old dogs" can learn new tricks. But to be realistic, I don't know how many people will catch it and read it. You know how many out there don't notice the "Read First" stickies. And go ahead and post a thread asking about something when the answer is in them.
If someone does all the fact gathering and does a tricks and tips sticky, I'LL be the 1st one in line to REP them.

I would read it. I like "how-to's" and etc. which can help me with items I am trying to learn and understand.

If I sticky, I’ll see if I can figure out a way for it to catch the eye amongst the other stickied threads!

I like it. Some of us read a lot before turning a wrench and the more info in one spot the better.

Fine idea amigo, and I too will read it, paying close attention. I see it becoming a printed shop bench reference, in hard copy, for those of us who do not keep a computer on the tool bench. I know that I used every reference that I could find, when planning my power steering cross over on my old 4x4. Way helpful, even though I modified my project, using borrowed ideas from all. I still have up coming projects on the back burner, that need a bit of tweeking before starting...

I vote YES....

I know I know a lot of tips tricks and get-arounds, but I also know that I don't realize I know them until I'm doing them, so I won't know to write them down and therefore, won't be able to.

Agreed. OR I think, is this common sense or would it help a brother....

Like this:
The pot metal on the water necks pit up pretty well. I used a file and a finishing DA with 80 grit.

That's a good one that everyone can use. Recently, when changing my thermostat, I too found lots of pitting, and after a thorough cleaning, I used "Devcon Marine" which is an epoxy metal putty, to fill in the pitting, and when dry, I sanded it with 80 grit sand paper, to a flat surface again, and also on the hose connecting area, to make a good hose seal again... working so far..
