Truck shuts down on its own

Hi there my 2017 SD 6.7L has auto start (it isn't equipped with automatic shut down). A couple of times now after using the auto start, the truck has shut down on its own after running for about 5 minutes or so.

This morning I opened a side door while the truck was running and then shut the door. By the time I got around to the drivers side of the truck, I would say about 30 seconds later, it had shut down. Is it shutting down because the system isn't detecting a key?

With the keyless ignition, it has an automatic engine shutdown (page 177 in the manual). Not sure if/what is configurable.

Oh perfect, I will take a look at that and see if that's the issue. Thank you for your help!

Looks like it SHOULD be a 30 minute delay on the 2017 Super Duty trucks:

Thanks, that is odd isn't it. I will go through my settings tonight and see if there is anything specific to the time it allows the vehicle to run prior to shutdown. The 2 or 3 times it has happened, it has been in under ten minutes. I usually just warm it up a few minutes before I head out the door for work.

Mine definitely runs longer that 5 minutes when started from the key fob. At least 20 minutes as sometimes I start it that much earlier than I head out to the car. Though as mentioned above it is a setting, I've seen it but don't recall what the value choices were for it.

Go into remote start settings in the folder on the far left on the dash and extend your remote start running from 5 minutes to 10 to 15 minutes. Also, turn off auto shut down.
When you remote start, you can also press the remote start sequence two more times and it will move it to 15 minutes as well.

Awesome thank you for the information! More tech than my 09 GMC that's for sure :-)

Found it! I changed the setting to 15 minutes which is the longest available and I think this will be perfect for the most part. I left the Auto shut down function on for now, I will just turn that feature off and on as needed. Thanks again for the help.
