Hi all, here is the new to me 2015 F250 4X XL Gas... It was a factory farm truck in Iowa. Just the basics, even manual windows. It has 59K on the odo and a little under 2K on the engine clock. From what I found out, this farm buys about 40 trucks every 2 years. They run their maintenance based on clock and not miles. Couple of nits here and there-like the center vents are broken-you have to press in half of the vent separately. It doesn't have a trailer hitch, but has the trailer brake control and up-fitter switches-they apparently have their own rear bumpers that they bolt on and store the stock bumper till its time to trade. Anyway, out the door and on the road for 17K.
This is my first Super Duty, wife calls it "Junior", since I had a F150 15 years ago that we simply called "Truck" and there can be only one "Truck".
What are your towing plans? You might find a truck at your lock pick and pull or recycling yard that has a receiver and/or the gooseneck/5th wheel in bed hitch you can add.
No real plans to tow...maybe a 12-16 foot trailer for building materials and such. Wife and I are retired on 40 acers in North Central Mizzou. The 2WD Titan just wasn't cutting it. In Norfolk, Va, it was fine. Hardly ever needed 4WD. But here...well, that's another story. It's just a little strange not having that receiver sitting under the bumper now. There is a 7-pin tucked up under the bumper. I talked to the local Ford dealership and he put together a
soup to nuts package for 1400.
I started searching back in May...I refused to settle or "good enough". Plus we aren't really all that techno, the more manual and mechanical the better. Manual windows, manual trxfer case, manual hubs...Heck, the Sync stuff on this truck is wasted on us...we don't have a cell phone, much less a "smart" phone lol.

You may be able to find a local upfitter with some leftover receivers available. Otherwise check into Curt MFG, they have some nice and stout ones.

I guess my question is: "Now what do I do?"
Tom
Go and take the wife for a day trip somewhere get a feel for the truck and enjoy it.
Then after you get back contact your local auto wreckers and find some vents from a wrecked truck, grab those ( they pop right out)that are off the donor truck, take your not working vents pop the old ones out put the new ones in and cross that off the list, while your on the phone with the auto wreckers you can see if they have the hitch you need for the truck... If you can get one then you can grab it at the same time and bolt her on and that's another thing off the list
Thanks for the info and ideas...never thought of finding vents off a wrecker.
Oh, and the rims are 18"...the spare is 17 though. That is one of the items on the list. The spare tire is trashed-I saw better looking tires in Iraq lol
Wife is concerned about the spare being a 17, but I have read it doesn't really matter-something about the tire sizes being within a half inch.

Truck probably came with 17's and the previous owner swapped the tires with the new truck. Although my wife's F150 came from the factory with 20" wheels and the spare is an 18", as long as the overall diameter of the tires is the same it really shouldn't make a difference for limited use.
So I was exploring the truck yesterday and I found the original window sticker tucked up under the driver's seat in a plastic bag. There were some interesting items of note that I was not aware of:
4.3 Electronic locking axle- I knew it had the E-Lock, just not the 4.3 axle
10000 GVWR Package
Camper Package
Snow Plow Package
12.5K Trailer Hitch
Appearance Package
There are some others like roof clearance lights, sync voice system, DRL...but those were the ones that stick out. It also notes 245/75R17 so the idea they swapped to the 18 aluminums at the destination fits.
According to the sticker my truck was #5 of 40 that were special ordered, and with a sticker of $37,920 makes me like my 2 year old half price truck even more...
Really nice find, 4.30's are nearly impossible to find outside of special order. I don't know how close to IA you are but there is a place in Adel(a little east of Des Moines)that has an ad on Craigslist for a new Class V Drawtight hitch with bolt kit for $200.
