I guess we'd better not vote for him.
That's the difference.
Bubba,
My point was simply that a responsible voter does his/her own research on candidates and selects the one that represents their ideals. If people vote for someone because someone told them to I'm not sure that's better than not voting at all. The whole idea behind elections is to get the candidate that the majority of people want in office. That means people have to take the time to learn what all these future polititions stand for and not listen to what celebrities are saying.
I agree that keeping their opinions to themselves would be better for their careers, but I wouldn't let anything they said influence my vote. I hear comments like that from non-famous people everyday!!
jskufan, as someone else has said, some people vote strictly by name recognition. They hear some famous person say vote for John Doe and when they get to the voting booth they vote for him without checking out what he stands for. That's why I don't like celebrities endorsing or trashing candidates.
Hopefully most people are informed like you are, and will vote with their brain in gear rather than someone who just votes for the first name they recognize.

10/4,
I also think "famous" people have a responsibility to watch what they say for the same reason they inadvertantly can become role models to children. Like it or not, they are always on display and never far from a live microphone. If they get tired of being rich and famous, they can always get a 9-5 job like the rest of us.

My only question is, how many California residents are hardcore country fans??
My point was simply that a responsible voter does his/her own research on candidates and selects the one that represents their ideals.
Id say less than 25% of voters are responsible enough to do thier own research, the other 75% vote party line or listen to what people like the dixie shmucks have to say.
I have tickets to see them out here in Austrailia next month, I paid to hear them sing, & that's all they did last time they were here. Hopefully they will stick to singing, but I will let you know.
An actor in politics? The governor of California? God, what if he becomes president one day? Maybe the chicks are right! I mean look at Ronald Regan... we elected him and look at what happened. He outspent the Russians and ended the Cold War!
How about a musician as president since they're smarter than the rest of us? Bill Clinton played the saxophone and look at what he brought to the White House.

Was coined during the Clinton Dak Ages. This refered to the mothers who were so busy trying to be a super mom\wife. They had to work sometimes two jobs to support the lavish lifestyle their huband and they were trying for. Payments out the wazoo, keeping up with the Jones, little Tommie in soccer, Suzy in ballet or what have you. She's running herself ragged, no time for a decent relationship with hubby, who's working two jobs. Sees a 'good looking' strong male figure who comes across as he will take care of everything for them. Has a 'crush' or however the shrinks define it and vote for the lunkhead.
They also allocate their freedom of decision making to hard core femminists, and other bleeding heart organizations by letting those people use their name, sound bites and 5 second pictures to push their agendas.
Maybe they only make the comments over seas because of all the canceled venues here after their last case of hoof and mouth disease.
If a ex wrestler with an IQ roughly the same as his hat size can be governor of Minnesota then Arnie can be one too I guess.
