I ended up w/ Dad's last pickup ('83 F150 XLT, 351W/auto, full load) fr the estate; it came w/ the buildsheet included in owners manual pouch. It needs a heater core but how does one know what heater it has among the MANY choices I find @ RockAuto? Truck has factory A/C & (I think) high output heater (rare to see a Cdn F150 w/o). There is no indication on A/C-heater housing underhood; any painted markings could be long gone already. Would build sheet indicate whether stnd or HO heater core? Is there a build sheet code reference somewhere on this site? Thank you.
I could be way off here but I thought I seen a post that if you had factory AC you could not have HO heater?
I had seen only 1 picture posted of a HO heater and the heater box on the engine bay side said "high output" cast in the plastic when made.
Again I could be wrong.
As for the build sheet not many were sent with the truck and from what I have seen posted looking at them a normal person could not tell beans what it ment.
I think if you were to find a person that was on the line when building the trucks I don't think they could tell you either.

Heater core: It either has a standard heater; high output heater; or factory installed integral A/C (same core as used with Hi/Lo Comfort Vent System).
Heater core shown as basic part number 18476 in factory A/C pic:

So what is the Hi/Lo Comfort Vent System? Is that no AC?

See pic of factory installed integral A/C (that is combined with the heater) in post #4.
Ok I guess I don't get it when might you have a high out put heater, with AC or with out AC?
If it is with out AC then you can have either standard or HO.
And AC would have got a standard heater right?
