FPR question

What's supposed to happen if you disconnect the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator? I was expecting the engine to die but it didn't miss a beat. Vacuum line is ok, I was checking to make sure the line was intact.

Fuel pressure will go up and you should be able to detect some vacuum on that line, but the EFI system will compensate for the higher fuel pressure as much as it can and you probably won't see or hear any difference in the way the motor runs. That doesn't mean you should leave it like this however.

I plugged it back, don't worry. So what you're saying is that when unplugged you should see higher fuel pressure, yes?

If you have a fuel pressure gauge plugged into the rail, if the regulator is good, yes it will rise.

The FPR does regulate fuel pressue. The in tank pumps are capable of making 100 psi. The reason for the vacuum line is to raise the fuel pressue by about 5 psi when the accelerator pedal is pushed. When the throttle plate is opened it causies a loss of vacuum this in turn causes the FPR to raise pressuer thus insuring that plenty of fuel is available for the power burst that's being requested.
