Hello all,
I need help again. Tested my fuel pressure at shraeder valve koeo 38-40 ... koer 27-29 and w/o vacuum line on regulator... no change what should normal readings be? I'm thinking above 40 w/koer. Any help thanks.
I would think bad regulator, or the fuel pump is shot. It should be 40-60 KOEO, and around 35 with the engine running, then back up to 40-60 with the vacuum line off.
On my way to pick up a new fuel pump, ran regulator test last weekend and got 40psi but it would not hold the pressure so I replaced it. Thanks Ford_Six I'll let you know how it turns out.
Hey Ford_Six, Anybody,
I need Help. Went to Autozone picked up a new pump ,installed it but couldn't get it to prime no matter what I did. Removed it, got a replacement, Installed and primed no problem. But now I have this annoying hum and my pressure readings are as follows....KOEO 37 psi KOER 32 psi vacuum removed 40 psi Should I replace the pump again? shouldn't my pressure be higher? Could my tank pumps be bad? (both) of them. Any help would be appreciated.
Indeed Billman,
All started when I decided to give her a tuneup, The long & short... pulled codes (11) all clear. But she sputters and backfires through the intake, Have to feather the accelerator to gain speed, hooked up fuel pressure gauge (koeo) up to 40 but would not maintain, so I replaced regulator,Checked again got a steady 40psi. Read (koer) 28-30psi thats when I changed the pump. Any ideas? Thanks!
P.S. I did have a better throttle response and the sputtering and backfire only happens at higher speeds and "WOT"
Hey guys, I got almost the same problem....wondering if you could help..I have an '89 Ford Ranger, 6cyl 2.9L. When I give it gas and try to accelerate, it boggs down, has little power, and then backfires through the intake. The codes that I am getting are 77 and 74, Operator error on balance test and brake. No help there. I did a fuel pressure test and got 35 psi while running, but there is no pressure with the ignition at the ON position(which makes it hard to start) and have also been able to rule out the pressure regulator with a vacuum pump and watching the rise and fall and also seeing no pressure change when I pinch the return line. I disconnected one sensor at a time and no improvements I have yet to disconnect the oxygen sensor because I cannot find it... My #4 cylinder pressure is down to 50 psi and a wet test shows that it is the piston ring. The cylinders are out of balance when spark plug wires are removed on at a time, but could that be the problem? If you could give me some advice, I'd be really stoked... Thanks....WoodstockAz
