I have a 1997 Ford F250 heavy duty. It is the old body style. It is a long box with dual tanks and I am wondering what previous years are interchangeable with this particular year? I found a truck bed off of a 92 F150 but I'm not sure if it's compatible. Also if somebody could point me in the right direction so I can find the part number for my truck bed or a parts diagram with the part number that would be great. Thanks
any bed from 1987 to 1996 F150, F250, F350, and 97 F250 HD or 97 F350 will bolt rite on to your frame.
Do you have any idea if the Body Lines will match up? I was told at one time that there was something slightly different with the 97 F-250 HD. I am not sure if that is actually the case though. Thank you
To answer your questions, there's nothing "different" about the 1997 F250 HD; the 1992 bed you're looking at will bolt right down and the body lines will match. The only factor is the fuel filler(s); if it's a dual-tank bed, you're golden.
What makes 1997 "different" as a model year in general is that the F150 went to a new body style in 1997. And they introduced a "Light Duty" F250, based on that F150 style. (It really should have been called an F200.) The F250 HD (as you know) and F350 retained the old body style. This admixture of models / generations means loads of hijinx, fun and confusion among the mouse-pushing "uhh, year make and model?" flunkies at the FLAPS. It was all so fabulously confusing that Ford didn't even issue a 1998 model F250 HD or F350. They just waited and introduced the whole new SuperDuty generation of F250, F350, etc. as 1999 trucks.
