I just put a '96 bed on my '97 Power Stroke and it sticks out both sides of the cab about 1/2 on each side.
I can live with it and most people won't notice it.
I read about this on here before but all that was said is there's a "half inch difference" but didn't say where.
I assumed the "half inch" was in the height but now I know different.
Just thought I'd warn you guys there's some weird '97s out there so be careful.
BTW, I took the dented '97 (built 10/97) bed off of the PS and put it on my '97 (built12/96) 460 F-350 and it fits right.
Why did Ford make a "Narrow" truck right at the end of production?
Was it extreme stupidity or was there a reason?
i used to work at a truck accesory shop and the toppers fit beds from 80-97 on 250's 80-96 on 150's so it theoritically should be the same bed thats weird
oh and i believe the last of our body styles were called a heritage it was a special order thing i believe i have seen a few with badges but i believe all the later built 97's were heritage
I have an interchange report from Hollander (wrecking yard) and it says the OVER 8500 GVW 8' F-250 box for '97 was an odd ball.
Even weirder is that according to that report the F-350 is the same from '92-'97 but the odd-ball (narrow) bed off of my f-250 matches up on my '97 F-350.
