When I bought my Ranchero, it had one glaring sore spot. At least I felt it was a sore spot. There was a fuel cell installed to replace the tank and the filler door etc. were removed. The truck is fueled by lifting the hose over the bed side and filling directly into the cell. I don't care for the method, but I can live with it. What I didn't like was the ugly way the cell was left. It just sat there, exposed, and looking unfinished.
I got with a friend who welds and likes to take on unusual projects. Together, we came up with a door, so to speak, that will hide the cell and eventually blend in with the rest of the bed
The way it looked when I bought the truck.
The new cover, in primer. Matching the bed will come this winter.
I only used one lift arm to help reduce the issues with fueling.
Yes/ There are about 6 more shows left this season. Then the truck will be going into the body shop for a match and spray of the door. The bed is actually covered in a coat of colored "duraliner", so the color match will be the hard part.
