Rims for 65' F100 after front disc convert?
Everytime I think I have it figured out, I hear about a new problem.
I have the original, stock 5 bolt rims that came with my Dad's 65'. It has the small "dog dish" hub caps that are held in place with some little bumps on the "inside" of the rim, as in closest to the bolts. I have seen these referred to as "innies". I think most 61 -65 slicks had these. Later, in 66 or 67, the hub caps were changed and so where the rims. The bolt pattern is the same, just you can't get your old caps to stay on.
Now, I am putting front spindles/hubs etc from a '78 on. I now read that my old rims are going to hit the calipers.
Is this true? Are there exceptions? Solutions?
HHHEEEELLLPPPPPP!!!!
Thanks!!!

Yep, good chance they will hit.
You can bolt the wheel on, but it won't turn.
Some have suggested grinding metal off the caliper, but I'm not fond of that idea.
You can go to a newer wheel, but you can't use your original wheelcovers.
Probably the best solution is to fabricate some steel spacer plates to move the wheel outward slightly. Just make sure the wheel studs are still long enough.
Be advised also, that not all 'outie' wheels will clear the calipers either. Found that out after I had the tires mounted again.

Make certain that the center hole in the wheel is 3 and 3/8'. I'm doin the disc brake conversion on a 64 F-100. I just happened to have a set of 3 stock wheels from a 76 that I parted out. You will have to go with the 10 and 1/8" hubcap.
Good luck...if you need any sizes from the wheel I'm using just email me at email4jnm(No Email Addresses In Posts!)

I ordered a set of 1/4" spacers. Couldn't find them ANYWHERE on the web, but what do you know -- someone in Oklahoma was selling them on eBay.
I will post back what I find out. I definitely want to keep my old hub caps, and prefer the old rims, as I have 4, already mounted and balanced with new radials.
And if this all fails I may just keep the original plan to change to dual drum and leave it at that.
Thanks all........
