My 03 6.0 F-250 wont even turn over now at the dealer after dieing 4 times and towed to the dealer. does this sound like a injector and hydro-lock problem. The truck now has 20,000 miles with no real problems till now.
why a new motor? MY master tech is a great tech I have known him for about 10 yrs and I trust what he tells me, however even he said this one had him stumped for a while. He had 6 codes in the pcm at first. He had just rereplaced a pcm for another 6.0 with a cooling issue but it did run, so he put it in mine and it stated right up but still had 2 of the original codes one for crank sensor and one for cam sensor but it seem to run fine. After doing a pin test for the two sensors in question he found the cam sensor to have a intermediate failure. With my old pcm it wouldnt even turn over?. So he has a new cam sensor and a new pcm on order. Should have them in in tomorrow I will let you know.
Im not saying that your motor is bad... I just read that ford is having problems with the injector system.... they also said these injectors were spilling fuel into the crankcase causing a hydrolock...they said if this happens then they will have to replace the motor.......Dwolf go to p m t chips website and look under BBS at the top right of the page it will have two links to the 6.0 PSD problems..... that should help you understand.... it could very well be a cam shaft sensor....does it die at all different speeds and RPM's....had one go out on my 01 psd and it would just die while driving down the road.....then it would take a minute till it started again.....but it always turned over may not start at first ......

THe first 3 times it died I was driving down the road at 25 mph and 50 mph each time it turn over and might start right away or it might take 5-10 tries once it did fire it would take 5-10 minutes of running rough and then was back to normal. The 4th time I tried to restart for 20 minutes would run for a bit but when I put it in drive it would die so I had it towed in. After the first time it died I was in oregon and I went straight to the dealer and had them change the fuel filters since I had 20k miles and I had been getting fuel on this road trip, they also did LOF and said they had seen a few trucks with this dieing problem so they checked my pcm and said there was a newer update since the recal flash done at my home dealer in May 03 so they reflashed it. The truck drove fine from there 600 miles home then the next 3 stalls happened. Once at my home dealer it was reflashed 2 more times no better. After the second reflash is when it would not turn over just sounded like a dead batterie. Thats when I found this forum and read of the hydro-lock problem but the next day my tech used another pcm and it fire right up. Since he found the cam sensor I wounder if the pcm is really bad and not just the cam sensor doing all this.
Hoped I would be telling you all how good my truck runs but the new pcm and cam sensor fixed it for only about 50 miles ( but boy did it run good for those 50 miles). I thought everthing was ok so I hooked up the boat and headed for the lake can you believe it died right in front of my Ford dealer so I limp in and unhooked the boat and theft my truck again. The Tech thinks it left friday at 5pm running good ( it did) but sat am not so good, boy will he be suprised to see it parked in his bay monday morning.
As I thoght the tech was not happy to see my ______ truck again. He found the same codes as before the pcm and cam sensor was replaced, (P0603,P2614,P2617,and P0306) if anyone has had these codes fixed any help would be great FMC Hot Line dont seem to know whats wrong.
Checked back with my tech this afternoon and the FICM seems to be at fault!!!. After he replaces it he said he would test drive it for only10 miles then its my turn I will make sure I am close to the dealer at 50 miles.
FICM- what is that? It's too bad I hope they get it right. I've seen alot of 6.0 up here in NH and I've yet to see one with problems. I saw one from Kinney towing that had 27,000 miles on it with no problems. My buddy at Hillsboro Ford just got 50 someodd trucks in for delivery 32 of them are 6.0. He says the 6.0 don't last a week on the lot. I was there Sat. I could't believe how many 5.4 and6.8 were on the lot. I don't get it I wonder if elevation or sertain parts of the country are having the problems.

This is my second attemp to respond the first time my new DELL had a memory error? maybe its me that starts all the computer problems I just spent $$$$$$$ on my office network system. Back to the point FICM stands for Fuel injector control module one of three computers we have in the 6.0 this sets on the drivers side valve cover. The other two are in one box on drivers front fender The PCM ( Power control module) and the TCM (Transmission control module) they also have a name for both together but I think it is (PTCM?). The later is the one changed with the sensor on friday. Today at 1pm I got my truck back with new new FICM and so far so good (just hope Iget past to 50 mile mark . I still love my truck and sure hope that this is it with over $15k in add ons I just about got it done the way I like it Would not wont to start over or even trade all my stuff to another truck. I will try and put a 100 or so miles on it tomorrow so maybe I can still take it to San Diego (1000 miles round trip) on thursday to tow back my 27 foot enclosed trailer 12000 lbs. Will let you know.
