1984 Ford F250 Heavy duty Dana 60 swap
Hey guys,
Im new to this forum and I don't know if I'm posting this in the correct spot but i figured it was worth a try.
I have a 1984 Ford f250 Heavy Duty with the TTB front end in it. I am looking to swap the front end and put in a Dana 60 from an 04 F250. I have seen plenty of Dana 60 swap threads but I have yet to see one using an 04 Dana 60. If I'm missing it, i do apologize.
I will put the list of questions that I have below.
1. Is this possible? if so, how much fabrication work will this take?
2. I can get a killer deal on the Dana 60 from an 04...will this axle work?
3. If this year of the Dana won't work..what is the best year to use?
Thanks guys!

You may be able to get it to fit, but it will require fabrication. Does it have coil springs? You have leaf springs. I think it has been done, more often on a later 80's early 90's truck, but they are much like your earlier truck.
What are you going to do about the wheels? The bolt pattern is metric and won't fit your wheels, and won't match your rear wheel pattern.
If you want a bolt in, you need a 85.5-up f350 front axle, up to about 97-98. That is a bolt in, but they are commanding big prices.

There is a fair bit of chatter about using the 2005 and up Dana 60 with coil springs and 2WD coil buckets, which must obtained and bolted to your frame. DieselBrad knows something of this and there is a thread going on in the bricknose/OBS forum on this subject right now.

On the suitability of the 2004 axle, I would make sure you are getting a D60 and not a D50.
