'96 automatic shift issue
Last evening on her way home from work my roommate's '96 Ranger got smacked in the left front by a Silverado running a left turn light. Damage around the headlight area looks worse than it really is. BUT.... Since the impact the automatic transmission seems stuck in 2nd gear. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any/all advice.

Check the lines running to the bottom of the radiator from the tranny. How many miles does she have on it. Is the shift indicator on the dash working properly when you move the shift lever? It's connected by a cable and has a plastic adjusting nut. On mine, the nut broke causing the position indicator to be off by almost one position from what I had the shift lever in. Daily city driving can be hard on these. I'm on my 2nd rebuild on mine with 254k.
