Central Diff Locking
did some offroad in a training area.
Two problems with my truck.
Truck has an auto an a full time 4WD.
No 1:
In low gear the front jumps out very often. Had to push it hard back into low to get it in 4WD. Next hillclimbing it was hopped out again.
No2:
Can't shift the truck into a locked position, precise, I do not know how to.
Pics show, there should be two locking positions, one for high, one for low gear.
What do I wrong, some kind of curve to shift? Or little moving for that? For same friction resistance I have to use the brakes. Does it well but the lock should work too!
Please get me a clue to solve these things.

I have one but my shift pattern looks a lot different than yours.
No expert here, but I would put it in neutral and then try to shift it into lock.
With trans in neutral and clutch "out", the input shaft is turning and "internal windage" as the trans lube is swirled will still apply a rotation to the output shaft when there's nothing to stop it turning.... like when you slide the TC into neutral on the way from 2hi to 4lo.
Mine has a C-6 and while I can shift from 2hi to 4hi with trans neutral with engine running, I need to stop and place trans in PARK before going from 2hi through TC neutral to 4lo for similar reason.
The deal is when that TC hits neutral, there is nothing to stop it's input shaft from turning, and that means nothing to stop the transmission output from turning .... (except in my case when I place C-6 in Park the park pawl locks the trans output shaft) ..... and in your case, pushing the clutch in will minimize it. If your clutch drags a hair, you'll maybe need to shut your engine off .... in which case the clutch needs adjustment.
Bottom on line, if you get a grinding when shifting from 4wd to 2wd, put an auto trans in park 1st. You might even have to shut the truck off, to get it to stop grinding when trying to go in park.
Also if you are in 4Lo and it will not come out, try backing up a bit, with the front wheel straight. And while keeping slight pulling pressure on the xfer case stick, give the truck a slight throttle blip.
