I believe that there MAY be a workable solution for you. LMC sells a custom front bumper SPECIFICALLY for the 64-66 F100/F250. Part number 49-9570. They also sell one for SPECIFICALLY the 67-72 F100/F250. I have seen this in other catalogs in a cheaper painted version, I just cant remember where. The only bad part?It has fog lights incorporated into the front. I have the aftermarket painted version with fog lights on my 65 and the fit is perfect. I can get some photos shortly. Mt thought is you could order the cheaper, painted 64-67 bumper, weld up the fog light holes, then chrome it. Perhaps you could convince LMC to produce a version without the fog light cut outs if its truly a match for the original 64-66 bumper.

Views looking down, from directly above and an end view would do it. I would forever be in your debt.
I think I see what you are after and the only way to get that kind of fit is to move the entire cab an core support around on the frame until the gravel guard is as close to perfect as it will get. Then section the bumper to get the ends tight against the fenders and possibly cut the frame snouts and move it back. I'm just going to take mine the way Ford built it. Just got this bumper back from re-chrome yesterday.

Hello skidoorulz: Thank you for responding to my thread on”front bumper woes. Your pictures as well as the trophy you won for truck authenticity, on another thread”, disproves my assumption that Ford would fit the bumper to a closer tolerance. There I go talking like an old retired machinist, that I am. Thanks again. So I,m off to make one fit. Wish me luck.

Bumper woes

Heh 664x4 drvr: Thank you for your interest. Could I ask for a photo looking straight down on the corner area and possibly an end view showing the top back edge following the step in the gravel shield. Thanks again for your indulgence. jackpot

If you scroll up toward the top of this thread I posted a set of pictures of my !966 Mercury parts truck. Each post in a thread is labelled with a number and it happens to be #11. I snapped a picture of the top down on the drivers side just as you have asked for. Hope this helps.

i think to get a good fit on the ends, that you'll have to modify the gravel pan more than the bumper. The gravel pan needs to extend outward and blend with the fender further out, otherwise the bumper would have an awkward contour to go in and fill the gap to the pan and then back out to the fender. Just my 2 cents.

just learning the ways of the site. Your last photo speaks a thousand words, as to the difference in stock and aftermarket bumpers. The photo tells me to try and custom fit a bumper to my truck. Thank you for your patience and help. I also wish to thank everyone who has contributed to this lengthy thread. My purpose in pursuing this is to try to get aftermarket providers to more clearly state what we are getting and not state erroneous claims as to fit on 64-66 F-100’s.

I think he was asking 664x4drvr for some views of his bumper to compare yours and his RangerMercMan? Maybe I'm wrong?

No need for apologies all is good. The after market may not be able to reproduce the exact Ford shape for patent and copyright issues. If you are looking for the Chip Foose affect, you will have to cut, trim and weld er up!

folks looking for a closer match to original may want to look into Auto Metal Direct as they have chrome and painted listings specific to 64-66 ford trucks and I checked their part numbers to confirm they do carry different part numbers for 67-up vs 64-66. They claim to have their own unique tooling that is a better match to original. Haven't seen one in person myself. Link:
