Front bumper woes.
 

Please guys, take pity. I have a 1966 F-100 that I wish to fit with a factory style front bumper, not aftermarket! In my previous posts on another thread several guys were super in trying to help. I am now asking if anyone can supply photos of how the top back edge of the bumper relates to the step in the gravel shield and how the end of the bumper fits to the fender and gravel shield. Views looking down, from directly above and an end view would do it. I would forever be in your debt.

I'll go out and look after it stops raining but I'm unsure at this point of exactly what you're needing. Close up photos?

The same headache related to the front bumper problem has existed since the day the 1967's were introduced, I kid you not.

The ends of the original 1964/66 front bumpers are a different shape than 1967/77 and 1978 front bumpers used before serial number AG0,001.

After this serial number, the 1978 & 1979 front bumpers are different.

The problem is, while the ends are different beginning in 1967, FoMoCo retained the original 1964 part numbers (C4TZ-17757-C painted & C4TZ-17757-D chrome).

So, this means that any genuine Ford bumper found NOS or used in todays world will probably be the 1967/77 & 1978 bumper.

Plus the repro bumpers are based on the 1967 bumpers, not on the 1964/66 originals.

The only thing you can do is find an original 1964/66 bumper. Otherwise...

Guys, here is the deal. I have found a supposed authentic factory, original 66 bumper. But it is not local, so I I only have pictures of it. Before I send off $725.00, asking price, plus who knows how much for straightening and re-chroming it. I need to know how the real thing and the gravel shield match up. Hence the request is for photos showing this. So it will take shots from someone whose truck still has the originals. We have all met before on my previous thread. Believe me, I have hit every web site out there for help. The Sedro Woolley mayor has been a great help, but his truck does not have the gravel shield. So that is where I’m at.

You need to see pics of this $725.00 bumper mounted on a 1964/66.

How will pics of any other original 1964/66 bumper help you?

Most ebay and craigslist sellers haven't a single clue what parts fit, even if they are NOS w/a part number marked on them.

If your truck has a gravel pan, whiz over to Keith's Victorian house (I've been there) where the truck is parked and install it.

After a week of attempts I've yet to see one. So I have nothing to compare the original with the aftermarket.

i just want to see an original bumper mounted ona truck with the gravel guard in place. C'mon

Is the gravel guard the horizontal piece of sheet metal between the bumper and the grill? Here are pics from my '64 F250. The ends are about the same on my '66 but on it the bumper is bent slightly because of impacts.

it may take you a while but you should find what you r looking for. Looks like you beat me by three minutes^

Thanks guys and John you are right in the description of the gravel guard. While I have you on. Could you send an end view shot showing the relation of the top back edge of the bumper to the step in the gravel guard. Thanks so much

For the price your going to pay $725.00 I'd sell you an original bumper I have up in the rafters. Original do hug better but they too are slightly off. If money is not the object, a custom shop can make a grille fit like you want. Don't throw money at something you can't see or verify. You just might end up with a 67 bumper.

Don’t need a grill. Yeah, you are right about the 67ish bumper. May get an unpainted aftermarket and do some cutting and fitting. Thanks for the contact.

I got home mega late and have a parts truck with an original painted bumper, grill and stone guard still in place. The passenger side is bent in from an impact but I will take pics tomorrow for you. $725.00 us funds seems astronomical to me. I would sell mine for $724.99 :)

that would be tax included right?
