advice or suggestions please

Hello all, I am looking to make the move into the "manly" size trucks, I have my eye on a 1982 Ford f600 with a Detroit diesel engine and an Alison transmission, runs out nice and strong. Is this a good combo? Im looking to shorten the frame and making a pickup out of it I know a bit of overkill but thinking it will be cool as hell. Another question I have is can I take off the standard cab and replace it with a Extended cab from a 1988 F150? I know I will have to fab up mounts etc but my real question is the front floorboard and dash area as I want to retain the 82 dash. Thanks in advance

It will be cool but you will have some things to consider:

--Ride. Even with air ride, expect a punishing ride empty.

--Fuel economy. A bit thirsty.

--Gearing and top speed. You may be running more revs than you like at freeway speeds.

--Tires. Not cheap.
