I'm trying to track down minor problems while waiting for parts to arrive. One problem is the dash lights for the transfer case. I have a 1991 with a five speed. The bulbs all work (first attempt cleared that up). The shift lever goes into all positions. When moving from 2H to 4H, no "4X4" lights come on. When going from 4H to 4L, the low range lights DO come on. I'm wondering if that is a sensor issue. I will crawl up there if there is encouraging news from anyone. Thanks.
Does anyone have an illustration of how to adjust the sensor? Or an electrical diagram so I can test the leads on the switch? It looks like a simple screw in switch, is it more economic to just replace it? 1991 F250.
Discovered the sensor is a two position switch number E6TZ-7E440-A on the body. I tested the switch and it works. I ran a circuit through it in the half plunged position and one probe completed the circuit. Pressing harder I got the other probe to complete circuit. This has a two contact pigtail on it that joins to a four prong pigtail. Three of them appear to be connected and I cannot get any kind of circuit through the fourth. Is one of these an unused pin? Does anyone have a picture of this circuit? Thanks.
