Yesterday was a typical Fall day, with cooler temperatures and sunshine. Went for a cruise to look at the colors, and to take advantage of the day.
Today not so much. Stored my '59 Beetle on the weekend. Supposed to get warming weather by the weekend, so may cruise the truck for a bit more yet this year.
YEEOOW...snow already? There are some trees on our street that change color and the leaves drop off...I thought that having a few dead leaves blowing around was a PITA but snow, that's a game changer. I agree with Jimmy, that is a beautiful view...stay warm!
As I type, I am at the Jersey shore, in Avalon to be exact, recuperating from the reception at my daughter's wedding last night. And it is HOT today. We have the air on and while every one wants to go to the beach, I am all for just staying inside and staying cool. I doubt I will win that argument.
One of the most memorable trips of my life was driving the Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Lake Louise. The emerald lakes, jagged mountains, and glaciers from the last ice age paint a lasting impression. I sat in a field and can still hear the glaciers cracking, a sound similar to rifle fire.
Unfortunately my old bones cannot take the cold and I will have to be content with the memories. Thanks for sharing your picture; I hope you have more to come.
Hey Tom,
I'll trade you 100,000 irritating funky Hipsters for a little snow.
Austin City Limits music festival is this weekend...89 degrees...
pretty cool for here. Our trees go from green to brown... not really much
to see there.
The original snow lasted 2 days , then back to 10 C or 50 F day highs.
Ben, we have 90 F days but only in July. This year was hotter than usual.
Edzak...The parkway between Jasper, Lake Louise has world class scenery and is worth the drive for sure. I like the scenery and drive around Prescott as well.
I have been busy at getting things ready for Winter; those beautifull leaves need raking and outdoor water outlets need drained.
Got some days left yet before I park the truck for the season, but had a good summmer for cruisin'.
Maybe we'll meet some day on a cruise but not this year...lol
Would love to be able to cruise the truck to Ont, but I think that would be an overly ambitious venture. It would probably make it, but at some point something would have to give. The motor and tranny were pulled from the 1990 donor and had no rework done to them.
The truck runs good at plus 65 mph speeds, but I prefer the back roads, and 60 mph to see a bit of the scenery. Besides my truck would pale beside yours John.
This isn't a new motor in mine but it had less than 100,000 km's on it, seems to run pretty good, just put a rebuilt AOD in it and have been putting as many miles as I can now so I know it will be okay for a long run next year. I had the rear differential rebuilt this year too after I discovered the pinion bearing was going..maybe I can talk the wife in a trip out west ..

My better half will ride in the truck but is used to the creature comforts like AC, smooth ride etc. My truck tends to be a little "choppy" as the rear suspension is too stiff. It rides like an old truck at times. I love it !
This is in no way to cause a diverse discussion but the other day and I do not remember what paper but the caption was and I repeat ( Global warming causing cat in North America).( Clear Air Turbulence ). In other words don't fly in the United States.
