I'm looking for a pair of front shocks for a '72 highboy with 6" lift. At rest the distance the shock needs to span is 28 1/2" and Skyjacker does not make one that tall with studs on both ends like I need.
The proper way to measure shock length is to put the frame up on jack stands, and measure the length needed for full droop. Then jack the axle until the springs are at full compression. Then try to find a shock within those parameters. As fe says, you might still have to lower your shock mounts to fit available shocks. You might try adapting SD shock mounts due to the greater amount of SD lifts available.
That eyelet conversion part just might be the cat's minge as I have found long enough shocks that have the stud on one side and a thru bolt on the other.

thanks for the tip!
