I probably don't qualify because I have only been on FTE for 4 months, but if no one else who is better qualified steps up, I'll volunteer. As a law abiding card carrying conservative I pledge to be fair and just in all my editing and closing duties, and I won't hold a grudge against all the fine liberal thinking members here.
Not sure how much time I would have for moderating, but I am a conservative that is slightly on the moderate side. I know I got a rocky start here at FTE and thanks to Dennis stepping in and having a one on one conversation with me via email, he helped me out a lot and I'd like to be able to do the same. I know Im kind of new here, also, but have found this to be the best forum I have found on the net, concerning Fords and also allowing other conversations to be posted. Although, lol, it does look like for being here only 4 months, Bubba has a lot of posts and seems to have more time than me. Of course, winter is coming on and I'll have a lot more time.
In any case, good luck to who ever gets the job... and perhaps more than 2 moderators could be needed in the future?
Ken, how much of a commitment of time is involved? What about the hours you would be available?
How would a person's political stance affect following the rules of moderation?
I would think by it's very definition a moderator would also be a peace keeper and a seargent at arms. Sometimes I see moderators stirring the pot, so to speak. Is this encouraged?

I whole-heartedly volunteer!!! As a right-wing republican, and an active-duty military member, ( I know, a poor republican, what are the odds?) I believe I can bring some "moderation" to FTE...
I lean right of conservative (libertarian), and I would love to lend a hand in keeping people straight I mean right. I know Im not senior to many people and dont have many posts, I prefer to lurk and listen and only occasionally throw my 12 cents in. Hmmmmm...sounds like what a moderator does. OK, when do I start
Not that I would be chosen, but I would do it. Guess I am closer to the left, but I am not a fan of labels, as I form my own opinions, regardless of what those in the same "group" think.
IMHO, if you're asking for the job, you're not the right man for it. Though some of the butt kissing has been impressive.
The way to do this is to nominate who you think are the best candidates, either privately to Ken, or publicly on the forum. Then, either Ken will decide, or I guess the more painful way to go would be an "election" of sorts.
Waxy, Ken asked for volunteers. A bunch of us did that. The way moderators are chosen is they have to be recommended by another moderaor and then Ken picks who ever he wants. In true liberal fashion, you want to change Ken's rules by holding an election. Yep, I can see it now. Ringers from other sites (why don't we call them illegals) will join FTE to vote.

Now that was funny! keep it up.

Feel free to label me as you wish if it helps you.
I object to some of the blatant butt kissing going on around here by people trying to get in good with Ken and reach for power. Is that a Conservative thing? I'm not sure.
Where I come from you don't ask for things like this, you get nominated, to do otherwise is not socially acceptable, in fact, it's frowned upon. If others think enough of you, you'll get nominated. That's the way the forum has always worked.
I suggested the election tongue in cheek (see - the painful option), if you read my post carefully you'd realize that.
