2018 Build and Price

Just got this from a Ford Rep today regarding 2018 orders:

Mike says:
"Thank you for your interest in the 2018 Super Duty. The order banks are expected to open late this month, expected to be on the Build and Price around early November, and expected on dealer lots around early December."

I'm still guessing the earliest you'd see a custom order is mid-January 2018??

I ordered my 2018 last weekend. But not sure if dealer is just sitting on it before they can put into system. Have others received VINs on 2018 orders?

You should get a V.O.C at the time of order and a D.O.R.A shortly after, this is the vehicle order going to ford, and ford reply that they have accepted the order. Vin's get released much closer to production date.

When first production starts on 11/20 stock and fleet orders are normally first priority and the customer orders come next depending on options and ocnfigurations. I would imagine any vehicles hiting lots this year will be for stock or fleet. Customer orders should arrive shortly after the new year.

They really did pick a crap date to make the model year switch. Yes lets start on 11/20, ohh wait that's Thanksgiving we are closed, then ramp up for 2-3 weeks and then shut down for Christmas and new year. The timing I imagine is going to be crap to get these trucks out to dealers.

That and all the 2017 trucks for have to replaced because of all the vehicles destroyed down south, so do they delay the 2018 start to replace these?, I doubt they can replace them with 2018 model years, and if they do they will be produced before any orders. I am figuring sometime in January for my truck.

I think the release of the completely redesigned Expedition and Navigator (which are built in the same plant) is the reason for the delay. Switching over to the new models is taking precedence over anything else at the plant at this point.

lol, order banks opened 2 weeks ago.

and why do you think January? Custom orders will be built before Thanksgiving and once built take priority on shipping. Stock units won't ship till custom orders start. You will see them in December if you placed early.

But they are on completely different assembly lines, they have no effect on the SD. One has nothing to do with the other

Not entirely true. While they each have separate lines, they merge together in final with both vehicles rolling off the line mixed together. So, one does have SOME effect on the other.

I don't believe my custom order got any type of priority with a build date or shipping... 16 weeks to deliver HA no priority there.

Got my DORA today, my custom order went in on 9/21 as a priority 10 stock order and came back with a priority 99 from ford....yeah should see those soon.

Not holding my breath for this year...would be nice but just don't see it happening.

To be fair I don't believe a custom order gets any kind of priority unless you can secure a #1 priority code witch the way I understand is almost impossible to obtain unless there are special circumstances or your connected to someone at least at the regional level of management at Ford... It seemed at the role out of the 17MY ford was more interested in filling dealer orders to make them available to the masses so to speak than giving a single custom order any kind of special consideration witch makes sense in a business way but that's just my HO... Good luck hopefully you'll get a timely delivery.

This is what my dealer told me last week.

"job#1 is at least one month out. They will get trucks to all dealers to make surethey have at least one before they start customer orders. We are realisticallylooking at about 3 months out before we see your truck and it could be even longer."
