Hey all,
I've got a couple questions. First, let me give you my specs:
05 F250 XLT extended cab 4x4 with 5.4l V8. Bone stock except for K&N CAI installed by previous owner.
My first question is, which Flowmaster muffler should I go with? I had a Super 40 on my other truck, but it was a 4.9l I6, so this will be my first V8 with a performance muffler. I'd like something deep, but with little interior noise (I've got a 7 year old, so I don't want to blow out her ears lol)
My second question is, I've seen performance Mass Airflow Sensors for sale, and I was wondering if the performance gains were worth the $150+ price? I plan on getting a tuner for the truck, and buying the aforementioned muffler, so I was wondering if it'd be worth it.
Thanks in advanced!

Reason: Gains, not games
Unless you are pegging the stock maf, there is no reason to change it. You will not flow more air than the maf can meter without forced induction. Don't bother with a "performance" maf.

Thanks. I was kinda suspicious of a performance MAF sensor, glad I got a second opinion.
I'll second the "performance" MAF being useless unless you're making other significant modifications. As for which Chokemaster Muffler, I ran a 50 series SUV that sounded decent with less interior noise on my old '99 F-150 with the 5.4L.

Outside of a tune and an exhaust system, I don't plan on moddingthe engine.
I was torn between the 40 and 50 series, but now I'm kind of leaning towards the 50 series. Was there much "drone" in the cab? I want something that sounds good, but not loud enough where you have to shout to be heard.
The "SUV" part of the 50 series was claimed to create less interior drone, but that was so long ago I don't really remember how loud it was compared to anything else. Youtube search for sound clips.
I would go with something a little higher end like the Magnaflow mufflers. They are a baffled straight through design that flows better than the chambered mufflers. They all sound better and have a lot less interior noise.

Really? I'll have to check it out. I said Flowmaster because that's what I've used before, but I'm open to other brands.
I’m running the Flowmaster 50 on my CCLB V10, it’s throaty (especially for a V10) when I’m on the throttle but at idle there’s minimal to no interior noise. That’s without the sound deadening padding under the floor, too. My buddy has the 60 series on his Dodge Dakota with the 4.7 and it sounds throaty and rumbles when you get on it, but again is not terribly deafening in the cab (CCSB). I’m overall happy with the 50, it’s nice if you want the truck to sound good when you give it gas, but not be obnoxiously loud when at idle
I am running the flowmaster super 50 hd with the 6.2L gas engine, it growls but not alot of drone in the cab. I was concerned about the noise like you as my kids are 4 and 6.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like that's what I'll be getting.
