Working on a truck i completely did top to bottom for a guy that now wants the stock 302 gone looking at a 347 motor and about 420HP
Questions are what can be done to the speed density setup to do the job.Ivwas thinking the new sniper setup but then what do I do to control the trans?
The factory SD EFI system can't be adapted to handle that motor so you're looking at a MAF conversion with a tuner.. probably the least expensive but most technically involved route, or a complete aftermarket EFI setup which will undoubtedly be easier to install and use but will put a big dent in the wallet.
And if as I suspect the engine build will include a complete aftermarket HCI combo then save the cost of the stroker assembly and simply start with a 351w shortblock.
420hp is going to be a stretch and its not going to be very streetable. with the truck tipping the scales at 2 tons, you are going to need a 4.10 axle to get it moving in the proper power band, we are talking a 6500+ rpm motor
and its going to be a massive MFI recal as 24lb injectors wont handle it, 30 will be needed and they dont 'flow small' enough for a 350 or less cube motor to also make it streetable. I have a friend racing (and winning) in various can am classes with a 450hp 347 and its definitely not a 'go to the mall' motor
