I just ordered a replacement radiator through Amazon and the shipping box was open at both ends and dented. The radiator looks fine except for the dent on the side. How much damage is too much damage?
Do you think it will be fine and I should go through with the repair?
I would request a return through amazon and request expedited shipping. Their customer service is top-notch. If I buy a brand new part, I do not expect it to be in that condition.
My only issue is that this is my daily driver, and I've been driving with a leaking radiator for 3 days now waiting for the part. As much as I would love it to be undamaged at this point I just need to know if this one's okay and go through with the install and deal with no truck to drive for the next 3 days while waiting for a replacement.
When you ordered from Amazon, did the ad say the part would arrive damaged? If the ad did not say that then request that Amazon send you one undamaged. If I buy new parts then I expect new and undamaged parts.
It depends how much you care about it being busted. If you just need it in ASAP, I would say to plug the outlet, fill the inlet with water, and test if it leaks. If not, you can hammer the support back in place and JB weld or something to hold it together.
before all that, contact Amazon. I bought a cotton candy machine from them a month ago. It arrived damaged- the stainless drum was dinged up and there were a couple scratches on the body. I contacted Amazon and talked to their support team; since I was willing to keep it and repair the damage myself- just a little body work, it functions fine- they refunded me about 55% of the purchase price. Saved me over $100.

I hear you on the daily driver issue...unfortunately, you'd have to do a pressure test on it to know for sure (or install it in the truck). If it were me, I'd want a new one and try to get them to pay for overnight shipping with Saturday delivery. Only other option in my view is to find one in town and return that one...probably more expensive...
Replace or refund IMO, like the above poster said, you need to make sure it holds up under pressure, no point in taking a chance on a brand new part that arrived damaged.
No question that radiator should be returned to be replaced.
The U channel on the damaged side was cut thru with something.
The U channel is the frame that keeps the radiator in proper shape.
Amazon goes way beyond what we typically expect from customer service. Do NOT hestitate to contact their customer support, explain your vehicle is stuck and the part you ordered was damaged.
I would expect they'll offer a solution you will be very pleased with.
