NP-435 to 7.5 460 1985 aluminum bell housing

Hello everyone, I have been looking to find the aluminum (hydraulic clutch assembly) bell housing that is off of a NP-435 trans and mates with the 460 ford big block, I have not been able to find this bell housing anywhere. I have ordered 3 different transmissions from an auto wrecking yard and every time I get the wrong bell housing. And they do not part the bell housing from the trans. I have called many different places in search of the bell housing with no luck in sight. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to search? Is there a particular part number I can look up for that bell housing? Any other info that might be of assistance? Thank you for your time.

You don't need a NP435 bell housing specifically.....the transmissions all had the same front bolt pattern, input shaft etc, & would attach to a big block bell housing (as you need) or small block housing.

The hydraulic truck bell housing you need, will take the Borg Warner T19 trans that 460's were equipped with (or a T18, NP435 etc).

For a part no., the best person to help you on the site is NumberDummy (a retired Ford parts manager)

I did a whole country search for it, and the ones that were for sale were cracked or broken. Now may be the time for you to go ahead and put a 5 speed in it. Is it 4x4?

I must have misread your message earlier and for some reason was under the assumption that Gary had one of these bellhousings for sale. But I got ahold of him through his website and was able to learn a bit more about the trans and housing. It has been brought to my attention that the NP435 was never stock with the 460 but came in the 400 instead therefor the flywheel in the 460 would likely not fit that bellhousing. But I was able to get the part number off of the link you had sent me thank you.

I would like to put a 5 speed in it but I am currently Just trying to get it back on the road (the truck is my daily) and it's just a 2 wheel drive.

I have never done this swap, but the 5 speed may be a drop in. It would probably be a little bit more money, but the 2wd trans would be a little bit cheaper. If you can't find a bellhousing, you may not have any choice. What is wrong with your bellhousing? They are aluminum and can be welded with success.

I have this issue also - cracked bell housing and can’t find one (not sure I’d want one anyway as they just seem to have a poor service life.

I have a 1981 F250 4x4 NP435 trans and BW1345 TC - truck originally had a 351 but a PO swapped in a 1985 460.

So the current drivetrain is a 1985 460 with cracked aluminum clutch housing, NP435 4 speed, BW1345 transfer case.

I’m looking at options:

Find aftermarket iron housing for external balance 460 - do they exist?
or
swap to C6 - this seems very involved considering what to do about trans cooler, kick down linkage, shift linkage, which C6 variant, etc.
or
swap to 5 speed - on this - anyone know exactly which 5 speed trans I would need? I believe it would have integral bell housing and be the same length as the aluminum housing/NP435 combo including the long extension, and would interface to the transfer case.

Can anyone shed light on the 5 speed?

Many thanks!

On the 5 speed, you need the zf 5 speed that was made in Germany. Here are some places in Arizona that have one. Looks like the expensive ones are rebuilt units.1990

No such thing.
All 1968/82 460's in cars/trucks/vans came with a C6. 1983 was the first year the 460 was available with a M/T

Beginning in 1983 and thru 1987, F250/350 460 came with the Warner T-19. 1983 460/T-19 bell housing is 1983 only, 1984/87 460/T-19 is different.
