Next to driving keeping my truck clean is my favorite thing to do. It gets washed at least twice a week.

I don't think I could handle the summer job I had in high school now. I worked at a seaplane base and would wash 2 or 3 planes a day after fueling them up and pumping out the floats. Mostly Cessna 172 and 180's.

I used to really enjoy cleaning\detailing my vehicles. I am getting too old also. That's why I had mine ceramic coated. Makes clean up at least 85-90% easier.

Posted this in another thread. Quick wash/ clay bar (towel) and wax.

Tip from my well know detailer friend.

Optimum No Rinse
Clay Bar Towel
Optimum Spray Wax

If you have not used ONR (Optimum No Rinse) it is very easy. 2 cap fulls of ONR in a 5gal bucket + water.
Don't feel like typing our how to use... So here:
http://www.autogeek.net/how-to-use-r...hannelid=BIZRA

The trick to wash, clay bar and wax in easy.
Keep your clay bar towel soaking in your bucket with ONR.
Wash one section of your truck at a time (IE: the hood then fender etc) with ONR. Don't dry and immediately rub down with the clay towel using the ONR as lube. If it gets sticky add some more liquid from the bucket. Before you dry it spray with the wax and wipe it right off.

Gives you a quick wax job that takes less and 1hr to do on the SD.

I spend $25.00 once a week to have my truck hand washed, dried, vacuumed & windows cleaned. Not a chance in hell I'm unwinding the hose for $25.00

Yes I have. Bought mine from Chemical Guys, with their soap (although some Meguier's Carwash Soap I just bought works great in it too!). Bought one of these as I didn't want to mess with gas, noise and another engine to maintain: https://www.snowjoe.com/products/sun...ressure-washer

A few assorted connectors as I've added an extension hose, and all is good. This truck is so big, I've gotten best results by doing one side at a time as I find, even if I hurry, the foam on the 1st side is starting to dry, before I get back to it.

I like it. Really "lubes up the dirt" to prevent scratching. If its just dusty, foam it, rinse, blow dry and done. Still takes me 2 hours...

I am about to bite the bullet and try out a foam cannon. I have heard good things about them and chemical guys makes some really good products. Gonna try it out, it's supposed to almost be touch free. We'll see how it goes.

the ruby red is definitely more work than my old Sterling Grey std cab but with the newly installed carwash the weekly baths aren't too bad

What in the world? Is that an inline pressure pump? Or is that one of those water softener things? I have a fire hose that I've always wanted to set up but never knew how. I'm sure my house pressure and volume is too low for it to work.

Foam cannons are OK, but you still have to get a sponge on the vehicle to get the crud off. Even a pressure washer won't get everything off. I've found that the foam cannon works good to get a lot of suds on the vehicle. You can't suds up the whole thing and then hit it with the sponge. The suds will all drip off before you can get to them. Suds up a section or two at a time. It works even better if you have two people working together, one to suds, one run the sponge and then the first person to rinse also.

On my ATV I can suds up almost the entire vehicle and then hit it with a sponge as long as it isn't in direct sunlight and I've had an adequate dose of caffeine.
