My'04 Edge is really showing it's age after 14 Michigan winters. The bed floor has rotted out, step side supports no longer there, shackles and mounts are history. I've 165k miles +/- on it, and it's 100% mechanical, so I'm rebuilding the bed and repairing/rebuilding what I find.
I picked up a bed downstate that had a good floor, and a couple crossmembers rebuilt, and got to it. The red bed is the original, the grey/black is the replacement.
Shown in a disassembled stage right now, I'm waiting on parts.
stepside? are the fiberglass fenders bolted, or glued on? I need to hit the rust on my 2000 real soon.
They're bolted on.
Open gas filler door, and remove 3 screws holding hose in place
Take caps off of rail caps
Remove T30 Torx and remove plastic rails, leave other Torx alone for now
Reach into wheelwell and remove screws from liner, mudflaps, and mudflap supports. There are two sets of screws for the liner, one set attaches on fender, the the other to a lip on the box itself
Remove tail lights
Remove T30 from between the screws for the tail lights
Remove T30 at the lower rear corner of each fender
Remove pad from stepside "step"and the 2 T30 ubder there.
Remove the T30 along upper rail, and it should all come off.
The step support T30 might just spin, the support like to be one of the first things to die from rust, just to be aware.
I think it would really be easier to just remove the bed first, remove fenders, do what you need, then reinstall box, and THEN reinstall fenders last.
I hope yours looks better than my '04 did.
Got it put most of the way back together today. Only thing left is screwing in the fender liners, reinstall the tonneau, and wash and wax.
Took it out for a ride with my 4legged buddy. Seems to ride a bit better with shackles that aren't seized up, and no rattles.
