Does anyone have one of them on their truck? I would like to look at how the braces to the frame are made. Better yet, does anyone have a pair of extra braces?
I will be installing this factory grille guard on the 1960.
Solid steel bar bolted to front arm of frame on bottom and bolted thru back of brushguard. If I remember the brace weighs just over 4 lbs View under from frame Back side of brush guatd
Found a set of braces with a 1953 part number. Most likely are the same units used on the bigger trucks thru at least 1960. Bolt right to the top of frame rail.
Doesn't look like very good support, you can see where they kissed the grill and dented it. I think I'd look into making some to go over top of the grill and through the core support
Radiator core support is spring mounted. Too much play there. Damage was from early 70's when my dad rear ended and totaled a new station wagon, as you can see minimal damage to truck
Factory one on a 69 I had went through the grill and the core support. It had neat little reinforcement bars to hole the grill bars in place where they cut through. I'd have a pretty hard time cutting a nice grill but that one sure was tough. I'd hand a tire on it and push cars around. Even pushed a 2 ton truck on flat tires once.
