The clips on mine have rust running/dripping onto my headlight lenses. It's only been on there 6 months.

I've invested the money to put on the cool Tuff Skin lettering (liquid chrome color) onto this thing...so if Ford comes out and says never mind, we'll give you a new one---how about the money I lost on my Tuff Skin? Will Ford say Tuff lucK???

Does anyone know --- will Ford give us new clips with the recall or a whole new one?

I would imagine we are SOL. The brackets should have been zinc plated or powder coated. I may trash it and go with 3M film to protect the hood, or have the brackets powder coated.

Yep,that's what I wound up with. Looks like it would be hard to put the stickers on,since it is raised instead of recessed. Got a pic of yours ?

It wasn't to hard to get them lined up. I could have done a better job on a couple of them but I am always in a rush.

Well, 40,000 miles on my ford accessories shield it finally crapped the bed. Both center tabs broke as well as one of the others. Im going to see if they'll stand behind it for replacement.

I've been considering masking the hood across the line above the super duty lettering and spraying 6-8 coats of plastic dip. Anyone tried this?

I would assume the "bug shield" guys on this thread are frequent highway drivers? I have never considered a bug shield and don't particularly like the way they look. Are bug shields a regional accessory - I see them in Texas but not frequently.

Reviews on that seems mixed unless it's professionally done. I could not get the 3M film and put it on with the super duty recessed in the hood, I'm better off not trying, and no installers anywhere close by.

I get mine to limit rock chips on the leading edge of the hood. Winter driving leaves lots on the roads here.

I talked to the shop that tinted my front windows about the 'wrap' material to use on the hood--they said it would be perfect if not for the lettering that won't work with the film.
Got quite an education on the 'wraps' in place of paint--seems to be a no-brainer for smooth surfaces. Kind of like the material on the rear dually fenders.
At the same shop was a Maserati getting a full wrap to change the color from black--really odd deal.

I see the clips on my shield are rusting so i suppose i will have to figure out something to do to them.
it's hard to believe they were not made from stainless steel.
