1997 Expedition
I might go check out a 1997 Expedition this weekend. 180k miles, 5.4 V8, Eddie Bauer. I'm not very familiar with the Expedition. I have 2 Fords with the Triton engine, but not in half ton or SUV. What kind of issues or areas should I look at while checking it out?

If you're up north look for lots of rust under and around the rocker panels and the radiator support. Also ask if any of the spark plugs have blown out and if so what were the holes repaired with. If it was a HeliCoil take a pass, if it was with a TimeSert then the repair is good and solid. Also, listen for noise from the front of the engine, the timing chain guides are plastic and tend to break. Hearing the engine start when it's cold is a bonus because they can be very noise until warmed up.
