2005 Ranger 4x4 4.0 top and bottom spider gears

Replaced the seals and bearing and while doing it the top and bottom spider gears fell out!?! Do I need to take out the S spring in order to get then back in or what? And if I do, will I need to replace it?
None of the videos show the person dealing with this. They just say to stick 'em back in and rotate the drive shaft to line 'em up.
Thanks in advance,
Gary

Did you have the pinion shaft out of the carrier for some reason? These things would not simply fall out unless some diff parts are missing or have been removed.
