Is it worth the additional $4,500 (in round numbers) to get the Lariat Ultimate package and the LED headlights in lieu of keeping it relatively simple with the lariat package?
Major difference is the moon-roof, key-less ignition, LED lights and heated steering wheel. I would like the key-less ignition and LED lights. Heated steering wheel would be nice but not necessary. Really do not want the moon-roof as I am afraid it will be problematic over time and I do not anticipate opening it much.
Just thought I would get some opinion's here. Main reason why I am going with at least the Lariat Value package over XLT is the air conditioned seats (and the leather although I know that could be added relatively easy).
We were in the same boat and decided to go with the Lariat value package. It ended up being a wise decision for us, as we tow a gooseneck horse trailer weekly. Adding the sunroof and other options on the ultimate package results in lower payload and reduced towing capability. And anyway, I had a sunroof on my old car and I think I used it a total of 10 times in the 6 years we had it!
Lariat ultimate package does not include LED lights BUT, you have to select this package in order to have the option for the LED lights. If anyone knows away around this (from the factory) let me know.

You are correct, sir. Ford forces the heat roof on us poor souls who want the LED's and other niceties supplied with the ultimate package. The only way to circumnavigate this dilemma is an upgrade to KR or Platinum, which I am sure was plotted by the devious marketing team to pluck more money from the buying public. If you are like me, living in Florida, the opening in the roof is pretty much extra weight. But, I've had mine since 11/30 and haven't had any leaks or other problems yet. Maybe its because I've never opened it, LOL...
I went with Value package because I refused to have a moonroof... I wish I had the keyless entry though. I always do custom headlights, so for me, the LEDs didn't make sense.

Sorry, I meant keyless start (push button). I’m the opposite when it comes to light in my truck... I have all my windows limo and my whole windshield around 30%.
If you are ordering a 2018, it looks like they have removed nav and sunroof from Lariat Ultimate package. So, that should reduce the price considerably I would think. Who knows what the matrix of requirements will be for other options s though.
Correction: Nav is still included in Ultimate. Oh well.

Navigation is standard, looks like sunroof is now optional if I'm reading it correctly on 2018 models with the Lariat Ultimate package, see last paragraph on order guide description

If that is true, boy is waiting for a 2018 looking appealing. I too have been fighting this cost battle. The dealers have either plain Lariat 6.7L model or loaded to the gills Lariat Ultimate 6.2L for the same price!! Is it too hard to have a nice simple truck without a rubber steering wheel (XLT) that doesn't cost $65k?
Dang, wish I had been able to wait for 2018. I really wanted the ultimate and add led's but refused to have the moonroof. Not a fan of the power tailgate either but could have lived with that. Oh well, am happy with my value lariat
