59 Hood hinge assembly

59 Hood hinge assembly

Can anyone tell me what material was used between the hinge flange and the cab body? Looks like caulk to me.

I didn't know there was anything between the two. Maybe someone had trouble with a leak so they caulked it?

Only one owner. Looks like a factory circular piece of caulk. When i removed the hinges it is clearly there. Maybe that was the original idea to prevent any leaks where the bolts go into the cab. I've figured some flat insulation caulk will do.

I'm gonna throw a guess and say it's seam sealer. Got it to n mine as well.

Thanks for your reply. Would you look inside the cab on each side where the four bolts go. Is there a reinforcement plate? I was ready to reinstall my hinges and it looks like maybe there had been a plate on each side. Went through all my parts with out finding them.

Thanks for your trouble. I saw that seam seal and thought I lost some parts. Looks like you have the same type lock washers that most people have never seen.
