Cardboard panel behind seat

Hi guys

installed my cardboard headliner last week and tried to install the panels behind the seat today.
everything fits except the top doesn't seem to be high enough, I tried searching the forum and Internet but couldn't find any pictures of the panels installed.
Has anyone installed these?

Not real familiar with the mid-50's but it looks like you need to drop the piece that's under the window down. Does the screw hole in the main piece align with the hole?

Hole is there for the stitching only, there's no hole in the body panel behind.
top strip is only 1/4" under the rubber so I can't drop it enough.

I think what I'd do is screw another metal strip, maybe a piece of square tubing at the bottom to elevate the panel. Less likely to notice that behind the seat..

Just looked at it again, is that 2 pieces..? Might be that they need to be switched side to side..

Yes they are 2 separate pieces, however they have a flap at the side which goes up and into the moulding so switching isn't an option. Also the holes in the bottom line up with the holes in the floor.

I'd put a spacer in the bottom then..
