No Crank Starts Only When Solenoid Is Jumped. Slow Starter.
Hello All,
Am having some weird issues with my 2000 F150. When I turn the key all the dash lights go out and no start. Ran 2 wires from the solenoid to a switch and it will eventually start. The starter will start real slow almost like the battery is almost dead and then speeds up more and more till it eventually starts. After it starts the theft light stays on the whole time.
At this point I have no clue what is going on. Any help or suggestions are highly appreciated!

You have the symptoms of a loose or corroded battery cable connection.
When first attempt to start results in lights going out, there is a large voltage drop across the poor connection.
As the connection heats up, metal melts and improves or lowers the high resistance hence the starter begins slow and speeds up as the bad connection gets hot.
The most often location for this is the battery posts.
These are lead and melt easily. Tell tale signs are pock mark melted out holes in the post and or the cable end.
They heat, melt, then harden again. The cycle can repeat over and over again.
The bad connection could be at some other location and be a ground.
Good luck.
