1982 Cab Markers

Hello fellas. I've had my 1982 Ford F150 for a couple years now and I've been having issues with the cab markers not working right. Sometimes they will work the more often I drive my truck at night using the lights. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't. I've tried messing with the wires that are connected to the light switch on the dash with no luck maybe it's a ground issue. Anyone have any ideas..? 1982 Ford F150 XLT Lariat

Tho the spacing looks correct those are not factory cab lights. If by chance they are the factory harness runs down the a pillar and plugs in behind the kick panel. Look for the plug behind the drivers kick panel with a brown and black wire. Test for voltage there first. If those lights were added you'll have to trace where power was tapped from.

I looked into it they are Factory lights they came standard 1982 with a Ford F-150 four-wheel drives. I will look into the kick panel issue though if I can't figure it out I might buy a new lamps see if that would cover it because it might be a ground issue with the lamps

Actually not, the F-150's did not come with clearance lights (not required by DOT)... F-250's and up did. and the Stock factory lights are "squared off" and a plastic base......



BTW those are not "factory" hubs either.....

That's not a "factory" 1980 - 1986 bed either.

It looks like a '87 and up (it has the "rounded" brake light assemblies) and "bumped out" fender lips

If the lights were added by a previous owner, no telling what might be the problem. Time to pull the headliner.

If his truck even has a head liner that may not get you anywhere.
My 81 is 2 panels, an outer one the lights bolt to and then an inner one the sun visors bolt to.
This inner is the head liner when you have a custom or ranger as mine are.

That is true Dave, I had to run a snake between the outer and inner sheet metal to install the wiring for my Correct-Era cablights.....

I just didn't want Davis Fam (or anyone else) to drop a head liner if he has one to get to the lights because they cant.

Well that is a tell-tale sign of aftermarket install, pull the headliner and there is the wire....
(unless they did it correctly)

The factory lights are a Trucklite model 25 like Reamer posted. There was no such thing as standard cab lights, but it could have been ordered with them. The spacing between lights looks close so they may have switched the lenses. Easiest way to tell is unscrew a light and look for a half round hole with speed clips for the attaching screws. Factory lamps ground through the harness, but if it's an after-thought install there is no telling what you'll find.
