Help With Options...

Well I plan to order a 2018 F350 CCSB SRW Platinum Ultimate 6.7L 4X4 next spring, and the wait is just killing me. In the meantime I figured I would get all the options figured out and yes I know they might change a bit on 2018, but I figure most will carry over. I have a good portion of them figured out, however I could use some help deciding on a few, and to clear some things up...

A little background, this will be my first super duty truck, and really the tech of the Ford has sold me on the truck. I tow a 7000lb Airstream bumper pull travel trailer (yes super duty is overkill), but I want to head through the mountains and tow with ease. Ride is important to me, and I will likely play around with a 4.5" Carli kit with 37" tires, and possibly sulastic shackles in the future.

Ok now on to the options in question, your feedback/opinions/first hand experiences are greatly appreciated.

1. FX4 package $295: I plan to change out the suspension, however it looks like the package includes hill descent control. Any thoughts here as to getting it or not?

2. Heavy service front suspension $125: I will never put a snowplow on the truck, and will likely change out suspension, guessing this one is totally pointless...

3. Dual extra heavy duty alternator $115: not sure I need this but its so cheap any reason not to?

4. Ford spray in bedliner $495: I saw an entire thread on this vs. the line-X, and a video which was pretty telling against the Ford spray in liner. However in the real world it would be kinda nice to have it come from the factory with the spray in liner vs. going out to get one at line-x, and being unlucky with some crazy overspray... I go back and forth on this one, thoughts? (I will put a tonneau cover on so fading is a non-issue)

5. Rear inflatable seatbelts $185: I plan to avoid this option as I see it to be a little silly, and will likely be in the way trying to thread carseats in the back...

Thanks everyone!!

Josh

Josh - there is no such thing as "overkill" (especially with our trucks) in my opinion! As to your options:

1. Yes! Get it! If nothing else, it comes with a really cool sticker for each side of the bed (which I promptly removed).

2. If you're gonna plow...yes. If not...nope. I got it and promptly changed out my front suspension when I lifted. I bought my truck off the lot though.

3. Yes! Get the extra alternator, or the massive heavy duty one I think they offer.

4. Go with LineX. I have had them in all of my trucks and never experienced overspray. Plus, I too went with the standard LineX because I have a cover on as well.

5. My truck did come with these, but since I have no one riding in back they are of no concern for me. I personally would not order them in the future.

Again...these are my preferences. I am quite sure you will hear from others that might say different. In the end...go with what makes you happy!

I was kind of wondering if the heavy service front suspension would make the front sit a little higher. (350). I'll be interested to find out about this option too.

I'm in a similar boat, but more around looking through current inventory on the ford site and seeing if there's a 17 that's "close enough". Listing and prioritizing the options I want. One thing I would like to find out though is the impact on payload of some of these options. There's certain options I don't care about but that are appearing on some of the "close enough" vehicles I've found. If one of these significantly impacts payload, I'd skip that option (things like the snow plow prep are a good example).

I'm building an 18 F350 CC as well, wet a little different route;

Ok now on to the options in question, your feedback/opinions/first hand experiences are greatly appreciated.

1. FX4 package $295: I plan to change out the suspension, however it looks like the package includes hill descent control. Any thoughts here as to getting it or not?

Turns out to be $850, I opted for just skid plates and 3.55 locking rear axle, saves about $360

2. Heavy service front suspension $125: I will never put a snowplow on the truck, and will likely change out suspension, guessing this one is totally pointless...

I chose the camper package which includes rear anti sway bar, $160

3. Dual extra heavy duty alternator $115: not sure I need this but its so cheap any reason not to?

Chose the upfitter switch option as well, $160

Add it yourself later, if your on the fence

5. Rear inflatable seatbelts $185: I plan to avoid this option as I see it to be a little silly, and will likely be in the way trying to thread carseats in the back...

I think there are some issues, like TSB or a recall, check with dealer
