I put a knobless type Pioneer stereo in my truck years ago. I cut the dash tabs out and a shop do the install. This was done 20yrs ago. My Stereo face plate was stolen and the stereo doesn't work anymore so I need to put in a new one. This time I figured I would do the Metra Volvo adapter. Took the old radio out and tried to fit the new metra adapter but it is too wide. Plus, i don't have the tabs to fold back to screw the adapter to. It's been so long ago I don't remember what the tabs looked like in a 67. I thought the Volvo plate would fit the radio opening but is the 67 a smaller opening than the 68-72? Not sure how to tackle this now.
Thanks numbers! I'm looking at the pieces that came with my metra kit and have a few ideas of what I can do to make it work. A little cutting and massaging here and there. We'll see.
Yeah, I know the door handles and armrest are different but I know that the window regulators fit from a 68-72 even though they say 67 is different. '67 isdifferent.
1967: You push the inside handles forward to lock the doors, 1968/72's have door lock *****.
1967 only: Door shells, door lock remote controls, window regulators, inside door and window crank handles, vent frames and handles, door latches, door lock cylinder rods, armrests, door trim panels.
1967/72 same: Upper/lower hinges, outside door handles, glass, division bars, weatherstrips, door lock cylinders.
Got the radio installed. It wasn't too bad. Had to grind on the dash a bit to get the Volvo adapter to fit. I also had to remove the original speaker and the bracket to get the radio sleeve to fit the dash. I wasn't using the Oe speaker anyway so it wasn't a problem. Turned out ok. Don't laugh at the flasher switch placement! The old man that owned the truck before me put it there so I left it to fill the hole.
