South West Florida going to take a hit again, BUT this one will be worse than Hurricane Charley back in 2004. They are predicting up to 12' storm surge along the coast and +130mph winds!
Just watched the latest tracks, looks like I will get the bad end(east side) of the storm. I do not have to worry about storm surge as I am 30 miles from the coast, but the wind is another story.....
Time to finish boarding up windows, clean up loose things in the yard. And get the trucks in place to act like wind breaks to help save my house. That helped in hurricane Charley to save my place!
A friend of mine is in Punta Gorda. She and her husband are riding it out. I hope all of you will be safe. I would be leaving but I would have left early. I've been thru the hurricane traffic and it ain't fun.

Say your goodbyes, before it's too late.Of course I hope they make it! It's just that, they may not have chosen the wisest of choices.Keep us updated.
Well that's another 'cane come and gone. Got a busted gutter and half my road was under water but not on my end. Had to report to work at 16:00 so I left about my usual time to make the 35-40 minute drive to work. I-75 was empty, I did 75 MPH all the way to Arcadia/Kings Hwy exit and no problems at all except for fighting the headwind with my little 4 cylinder Ranger haha. Course I had my phone mounted up in the windshield and have a few video clips I could share of the drive.
The worst of it showed up over the plant where I work at about 20:00 that night, went outside and took some video and pictures there too.
All in all... we got lucky. Nobody I know is injured or dead and I hope the rest of y'all made it thru unscathed as well. I have more videos than pictures so maybe later I'll post up a few.
I only had tree damage and screens on the porch ripped up, but no major issues. Nocatee(just south of Arcadia) had tree damage and downed power lines. Circle K off Hwy US17 in Nocatee had its gas pump roof blown into southbound US17. Havn't made it into Arcadia yet...but heard downtown was hit.
Got lucky as that storm weakened after taking out Marco and Naples.
