Code 225 EEC IV
Code 225 EEC IV
So I have a habit of running KOEO and KOER tests on a regular basis to check for any CMDTCs stored that may not turn the CEL on. I've been wondering about code 225 for awhile. In the description it says you must tap on the engine block to simulate a knock when prompted or code 225 (knock not sensed) will set during the KOER test. I have never gotten code 225 while doing the test but I have never tapped the engine when prompted. There is some piston slap when cold but the engine doesn't really knock otherwise so I'm wondering if that means something is wrong with the circuit and/or sensor. Thoughts?
When running the Dynamic Response KOER test the computer is programmed to expect a signal from the Knock Sensor triggered by pre-ignition/spark knock. You may not get any of that if you run higher octane fuel, retarded timing or live at a higher elevation.
If you are not getting any spark knock under normal operation I would not be concerned about getting a Code 225 when running the KOER tests.

I forgot about that thread. In light of that news....you may have a bad knock sensor. Finding the correct one is going to be tough. They are no longer made.
Testing one, no idea. I know they are designed to respond to certain frequencies based on the number of cylinders (I do not believe it is based on an inline versus V8). That's why the 4.9L version is a different part number than the 5L.
On the hand pinging at heavy throttle could be low fuel supply, bad injector(s), carbon build up or other items like wrong heat range spark plugs and a host of others.
I do not recall all the details from the other thread, that's why I prefer to just bump the old one by stating you still have the code even after doing x,y,z.....
