my 2014 has a bad vacuum seal on the passenger side front hub. therefore the auto lock function does not work. ....for now.
since i usually run the manual hubs locked all winter on the other trucks anyway, can i just lock the passenger side auto hub, plug the vacuum line at the hub, and then use the auto function on the driver side hub if 4X4 is needed this winter?
i don't have the time or money to fix the seal at the present time, and most likely will not be able to replace the seal until next year.
Lock them both. Otherwise the locked side will be turning the front driveshaft through the spider gears, or worse, the axle shaft on the unlocked side will be turning backwards depending on which has less friction.
Either way, this seems like unnecessary wear on the spider gears.
Just lock them both in until you get the vacuum problem fixed.
