I've got a cold start problem. Turn it on, wait until glow plug light goes off, hit the starter and it fires right up. It acts like it runs out of fuel and dies. Hit the starter and it fires up and dies again. Third time it stays running. It's not a long crank either. 1-2 seconds at most. Fuel pressure is 59, HPOP immediately goes 1000+, everything looks good. It will start fine the rest of the day until it sits overnight. This is an early 04. Any thoughts?

Early 04, so the ICP is not on the passenger side valve cover, correct? That eliminates the dummy plugs.
At any rate, park it nose down overnight and see how she fires up. That also tells us the seal on the early build HPOP is, or is not, leaking.
Filters probably have around 12K on them now. The ICP (and IPR) is OEM and was replaced probably 6-8 months ago (and yeah, it's under the #@$! turbo). When it dies, the HPOP is well over 1000. I know the second time this morning it was at least 1200. I'll have to pull the cap and see if the bowl is full, and try the nose down.
If so, it grabbed it the second crank (barely). Both times you are pushing 84% IPR cold start. Might be pointing to a HPO leak on pump or somewhere else but not for sure.
Did you check the fuel bowl before cold start yet?
Fuel filters are overdue for new
It started to quick to be a nose down/HPOP cold start issue. Would have taken a good 5 seconds to get it to pop, the rails would have been empty... I'm betting it's a fuel issue.
It catches every time that quick. Maybe another second at most. I'll park it outside tonight so I can get to the fuel bowl in the morning. How much is "nose down"? Kinda flat around here. I've got another set of filters. I'll try to get them changed.
Try turning the key to start the truck and just let it sit a few seconds longer before engaging the starter. That will allow the fuel pump to purge any possible air in the system. IF it continues to not fire and run right away, then you have possibly eliminated the fuel issue.
Do only one thing at a time or you'll never know what solved the issue.
Park the nose down about 6-8"... drive the rear wheels up on the curb, a block of firewood, some 2x4s.

Me too...
Pump might be headed south or there may be air in the lines
Turning on the key and letting it set for a few seconds to build fuel pressure doesn't help. That pretty much stays at 58-60. FICM voltage stays 47.5-48. Upper fuel bowl is full after sitting overnight. This is an early 04 build with 200K on it.
