I know this has been covered before but I can't find it. I just got my 3 marker lights and harness for the rear under the tail gate. The harness has 2 green wires so I assume polarity is not an issue but I wanted to make sure. The instructions aren't clear on this. Hope someone can help.
Polarity DOES matter, just bench test it, if it works you are correct, if it does not, switch and retest, you will not hurt it if connected backwards, you can use the trucks battery, no need for low power.
I hooked mine to the license plate lights. Hopefully yours goes better than mine did though because my plug on the wire harness wouldn't make contact with the small pins on the light. I ended up getting it to work by taking the plug apart and turning the female wire connectors around and putting it all back together. It was less than desirable but it works now...
Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll bench test it first. I was trying to get the tail lights out. I know there are two bolts that go in the side of the light that are accessible after you drop the tail gate. The light seems loose but it seems like something else is holding it. Didn't want to try to hard for fear of breaking it till I find out more about it. I think I'm going to tap into the harness at the tail lights because I'm also thinking of adding some long thin LED marker lights at the top of the running board brackets. I think the connection up there will be more protected from road salt and corrosion.
