Future of the 6.7......
So what do you think the future will hold for the 6.7? Do you think Ford will continue with it and just make tweaks every year or do you think they will come out with a whole new diesel engine? I'm sure EPA will play a huge role in that but how much longer do you think Ford will run with the 6.7 till a bigger or smaller engine comes out?

I see the 6.7PSD being around for many years receiving updates as new technology is available. Supposedly some diesels will eliminate the EGR and have all the emissions downstream in the exhaust.

It isn't going away anytime soon. This motor over a has been fantastic and really hasn't needed to change much over its 7 years. I know it easily runs over 500/1000as they've been running it for 2 years. They have plenty of room to keep upping power to stay competitive. The next epa phase is 2022 or 2025?

I think the 6.7 is going to continue for several more years until the EPA finally forces a change. The engine still has a lot of power left in it so it can stay competitive. Eventually the next step I think will be adding a hybrid system much like Ford is doing to the f150 in the early 2020's. Even when they add the hybrid, I think they will continue to use a large v8 turbo diesel. Think about it: electric= less fuel burned= better fuel economy and less emissions= fewer regens= more reliable longer lasting motor. It also can add torque in the small gap when the turbo is spoiling up as well as add horsepower as diesels struggle with that.
Diesel will for sure remain the top engine as well as it being a v8.
